It’s a 1977 GMC Suburban, 350, with a 4-speed transmission, and little to no exhaust. Still needs winter tires because this thing slides everywhere on Baldini’s. What do want to know about it, Oppo?

What does it say on the door?

It says “LOW JAX GARAGE” with a picture of a slammed frame, the previous owner painted it. Not sure if I’ll keep it or not

![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:53 |

Marvelous. RWD I presume?
![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:55 |

This one might be on R+C sooner than you think! And I can help you move some stuff for sure. It’s a half ton.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:55 |

Does the Datsun fit in the back?
![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:55 |

I’d love to get another. I had a 4x4 91 GMC with captains chairs front & middle row.
My virginity is in the middle of that Suburban if it’s still around.

That is awesome!

I’m excited to be able to haul a ton of stuff and go camping!

Can I have it?
![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:57 |

BAD! ASS!
I’ve always wanted to make a cruiser out of an old Burb. Something like this, but less flashy.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 16:57 |

I really want to try, I’ll probably have to fold the rear seats down

No tent necessary.

It’s 2WD. The purchase price goes down when the exhaust isn’t included, haha.

The extra weight will help with snow traction.

I thought so - didn’t look like a 4WD hub on the front wheel, but I wasn’t sure. 2WD more fun in snow anyways. And a 4 speed! I loved driving these things, but haven’t driven one with a stick.

I NEED IT. Lowered big body suburban.... hnnnng
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:07 |

GMC, because the Chevy Suburban is for plebs. EVEN IF IT’S A SILVERADO AND NOT SCOTTSDALE
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:21 |

ofc
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:22 |

It’s a riot! Although I could do with a little less slidey-ness. For instance, sliding into a car at a stop sign would be bad.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:24 |

Fair play to you and it looks awesome but I couldn’t daily drive that, I’ve just got rid of my Abarth 500 cos it was to unrefined!! lol

This is fantastic!

Fair point - tires will fix that, though-

DUUUDE I love the Blazer, I wanted one when I was looking at this, but then realized that I wanted the extra seats to bring around friends and their junk.

I wanna know when we’re going for a rip.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:40 |

Which will do better burnouts: This, or Cletus-Vette? ;)
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:50 |
|
Oh totally, I love the Suburbans as well, but I’ve already got my ‘06 Sierra crew cab with six seats and a pickup bed. I also love the more curvaceous front end of the early Squarebodies like yours. Any rust?
This is the one with a manual, it’s an ‘84.
I’m also going to try and look at this ‘79 which is located in the same direction. It’s got a plow, which I’d love to have, but it’s an auto.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 17:51 |

Looks like R&C need to do a Vortec head swap!
Actually not joking
![]() 01/13/2017 at 18:04 |

This thing is cush! Bench seat, big winshield, power steering, it’s like a big couch!

I’m always goin’ for a rip there bud
![]() 01/13/2017 at 18:24 |

Those are SWEET. Yeah it’s got some rust, but nothing scares me anymore. The frame is nice and so are the floors, only problem areas are the wheel arches and a couple spots on the driver’s rocker.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 18:32 |

Just ordered a set of Michelin X-ice’s.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 18:33 |
|
Might still be possible! This is gonna be my adventure mobile
![]() 01/13/2017 at 18:48 |

That’s not bad at all. The ‘84 needs rockers (replacements included), not sure about the ‘79.
![]() 01/13/2017 at 19:28 |
|
Suburbans tots rock and rule. One of the finest consumer products America has ever produced :D
We just sold our second one I feel bad tho cuz we only put 300K miles on her *sniffle* #stillnew
Much enjoyment, bro!
![]() 01/13/2017 at 19:38 |

Apologies for being That Guy...but the GMC always seemed badge-engineered so you could say, “I was totally OK with paying more for the exact same vehicle”
So, school me...?
![]() 01/13/2017 at 22:53 |
|
That’s pretty savage!
![]() 01/15/2017 at 01:49 |

Thanks! I’m genuinely not sure if this beast has 55,000 miles on it or 155,000
![]() 01/15/2017 at 21:29 |

The GMC *was* almost always the badge engineered option, a vehicle with pretty much the same options standard as the mid-level Chevy package and slightly more than it (typically). That was the joke - that a GMC of any trim level is automatically better than even a top trim Chevy... even if it isn’t.
At one time (by which I mean the late 40s) the GMC had a whole bunch of extras like stainless steel parts, fancier transmission/heater options, etc. etc., but GMC has been trading on that while offering a differently badged mid-range Chevy for a very long time.
